The province capital, Puerto Princesa City, also being tagged today as the city in the forest, is the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines. Trash bins are scattered around as No Littering policy is strictly observed. It's so funny how conscious our group was in throwing our trash. Puerto Princesa City was offer pleasurable activities, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Iwahig Penal Farm and Plaza Cuartel; and other interesting choice spots like the Crocodile Farms Institute, Nature Park, Butterfly Garden, Baywalk, Mitra’s Ranch, and Baker's Hill are the mainly attractions while in the City.

The Underground River in Puerto Princesa Palawan is one of the longest and most visited national park in the Philippines. It is one of the most important protected areas in the Philippines and is designated as a core area of Palawan biosphere reserved.It was established as the St. Paul Subterranean National Park on March 26, 1971 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 853. It was created primarily to protect and preserved the outstanding biophysical properties of the area.The park is best know for the existence of an intensive underground river system. It also protects significant old growth tropicals considered by experts to be among the most biologically diverse ecosystem in the world. So far, more than 800 plant species have been identified including some 295 trees dominated by the dipterocarp type birds, 30 species of mammals, 18 species of reptiles, 10 species of amphibians, and a large number of insect species.

Its main attraction is an 8.2 kilometer underground river, reputed to be the world's longest,that winds through a spectacular cave before emptying into the South China Sea. Cathedral chambers, wide hallways, and interesting geologic formations greet the wide eyed visitor to the grotto hidden beneath St. Paul Mountain. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing night to the water's edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards and squirrels find their niche on the beach forest near the cave.  Just outside the national park, a wide expanse of beach awaits sun and sand worshipers in Sabang.

The bay consists of several islets with shallow reefs bordering fabulous beaches which have become the favorite swimming, snorkelling, and diving destinations of local residents and tourists. These islets are the Cannon (Cowrie) Island, Bat Island, Lu-Ii Island, Meara Marina, Starfish Island, Snake Island, Pandan Island, and Senorita Island.. The bay is located in Sta. Lourdes Tagbanua, Puerto Princesa City. About 12 kilometers east of Puerto Princesa City is Sta. Lourdes wharf. Some islands require an entrance fee; others are privately owned, thus, permits from the owners are necessary. Sta. Lourdes wharf is 25 minutes away by hired tricycle or jeepney.

Ugong Rock was one of the ecotourism site that the City Government of Purerto Princesa City been developed.Ugong Rock is a limestone formation located in the scenic Barangay Tagabinet, a few kilometers away from the well-known Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. It can be accessed from the city of Puerto Princesa within two hours or less by van or any land vehicle because the way to the limestone is well-paved.

These creatures are absolutely magical especially in the wild. They turn into clowns in the zoo but in the ocean, swimming with their groups,  the experience of seeing these creatures out in the wild open is definitely memorable and meaningful. They can swim faster than the bancas. They can dive deep into the waters. But for a few minutes, they will swim with the motorboats clad with excited tourists that can turn into a frenzy as well. Watching the long-snouted Spinner Dolphins leap and play at the waters of Puerto Princesa Bay. They are locally known as "lumba-lumba".

The fireflies of the Iwahig are so abundant that they literally light up mangroves and other trees along the banks.In a minute paddle-boat excursion at night through the river’s inner sanctum, one is at first awed by the sheer abundance ofbioluminescent planktons as the boat, loaded at max by just three guests.

 

PORT BARTON

Port Barton town is a small fishing and farming village located on a sheltered bay along Palawan’s west coast. Port Barton is also a Barangay within the municipality of San Vicente. The popular activities for tourists are island hopping, snorkeling, beach lazing and swimming, either in the ocean or in one of the two nearby waterfalls. The mangrove river tour can be a fascinating outing for those with an interest in nature. You will find most of the tourist accommodation along the 1.3 km beach but there are also a few resorts on the nearby islands and secluded beaches

Apulit IslandThe luxurious Club Noah Isabelle is on Apulit Island. Its cove has a magnificent coral reef with quite a variety of fishes. The seeming fireworks display of colored fishes is a feast for the eyes. Some fishes like jacks and  napoleons are of considerable size and can be observed by merely snorkeling. There are several caves on the opposite side of the resort, notably the Saint Joseph Cave

El Nido is a protected area located in the northernmost part of Palawan mainland, Western Philippines. Its ecosystem contains 250 million year-old limestone cliffs, 888 species of fish, 447 species of coral, 114 species of bird, 5 species of marine turtle and 2,645 hectares of mangrove forest. It has 3 major archeological excavation sites: Pasimbahan Cave in Bgy. New Ibajay, Sibaltan Open Site in Bgy. Sibaltan, and Ille Rockshelter in Bgy. New Ibajay. The annual excavations led to the discovery of 14,000 year-old human remains, 9,000 year-old cremation sites and 11,000 year-old tiger bones in New Ibajay and a Pre-Hispanic trading community in Sibaltan.

Coron Island has numerous caves which are home to a rare Philippine bird whose nest (balinsasayaw) is a rare expensive popular Chinese delicacy. There are seven lagoons in Coron which are only 15-minutes apart. For more island hopping and fun, Coron offers the enchanting 219 islands and islets with white sand beaches.Kayangan Lake, which is located in Coron Island, Northern Palawan is said to be the cleanest lake in the Philippines. Sometimes called the Blue Lagoon, this freshwater lagoon is amidst sheer limestone cliffs. The beautiful picture-perfect scenery of lake Kayangan can be seen after a walk up the mountain trail.

The Calauit Island lies in the Northwestern coast of Palawan was declared a game preserve and wildlife sanctuary in 1977 as the Philippines responded to an appeal by the IUCN or the International Union of Conservation of Nature to save endangered animals in Africa. The Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary is a natural area where the entire environment and all the plants and animals are allowed to live in a natural state with the absolute minimum of human interference or disturbance. In order to protect the sanctuary and preserve it for future generations, certain standards of Visitor Conduct are provided for in the National Integrated Protected Areas Act and the Strategic Environmental Plan for Palawan.

Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. Rising from the volcanic depths of the Sulu Sea in the western Philippines, these  magnificent atolls encompass an astonishing diversity of marine life. Tubbataha is the Philippines' first national marine park and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a place of global importance being preserved for future generations of humankind.

Through the initiative of the Municipal Government of Narra, resort facilities have been provided such as cottages, rest rooms and provisions for grilling.


TABON CAVE

 The Tabon cave complex is located on Lipuun Point, Quezon, Palawan . It is a 138-hectares, of rugged cliffs and deep slopes. Discovered by an American, the late Dr. Robert B. Fox and his team of Archaeologist from the National Museum in 1962. The discovery of the caves have yielded an important Archaeological find - Fossil human bones tentatively dated from 22,000 to 24,000 years ago. Excavations were done from 1962 to 1970. Of the 200 caves found in Lipuun Point only 29 caves were fully explored, including Tabon Cave, which were found to been used for habitation and / or burial sites by ancient people.    Because of its importance to Philippine History and heritage, the site was declared a Museum Reservation Site by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 996 in 1972 by the Philippine Government. Out of the 29 explored caves, only three caves are available or open for the visitors. The Tabon cave complex is currently being maintained and managed by the National Museum.

   Tabon cave complex is a 30-minute banca ride from the town of Quezon, a Southern municipality of Palawan. It is 155 kilometers away from Puerto Princesa City.
